Northline Freight

A four-hundred-truck fleet moved off paper dispatch after I rode three routes before showing anyone a screen.

Northline had turned down two dispatch vendors in the year before I called, both after a demo. I asked their VP of Operations for three ride-alongs before I would show a screen, and I got them.

The brief that came out of the cab was not about software. It was about the ninety minutes every driver lost each morning between the yard gate and the first stop. That became the number on the plan, and the plan became the contract schedule almost word for word.

The pilot ran on one terminal and twelve trucks. Commercials closed in twenty-four days because procurement had been on the plan since the first draft. A year later the number in their books matched the one on the brief.
